Komatsu HST Pump — Hydrostatic Drive Pump for D31 / D37 / D39 Bulldozers
Komatsu HST Pump (Hydrostatic Pump) is an axial piston variable displacement pump and a key component of the hydrostatic transmission used in Komatsu bulldozers of the D31, D37, D39 series. It is responsible for machine movement, tractive force and precise speed control.
Unlike conventional hydraulic pumps for attachments, the HST pump operates directly in the transmission and supplies oil to the final drive travel motors (left and right side), ensuring smooth and controlled machine movement.
What is the Komatsu HST Pump and What Does It Do?
The HST pump is a variable displacement pump that:
- converts engine mechanical power into high-pressure hydraulic flow;
- provides forward and reverse travel;
- controls travel speed;
- ensures high tractive effort under load;
- works together with travel motors (left/right);
- provides smooth start and stop without jerks.
The HST pump is essentially the “heart” of the Komatsu bulldozer undercarriage.
