    Hydraulic pumps are power mechanisms designed to create a targeted flow of hydraulic fluid due to the conversion of energy from mechanical (torque, shaft speed) to hydraulic (supply, pressure), and the reverse transformation takes place in hydraulic motors. They have the opposite: hydraulic energy is converted into mechanical.

    How does a hydraulic pump work? The principle of operation, regardless of the type and design of the equipment, is to displace hydraulic lubrication. In this case, the liquid must be displaced with sufficient power necessary to overcome the pressure existing at the point of exit of the device. During operation, the hydraulic pump forces the working fluid to flow from the tank to the unit due to the vacuum on the inlet line. The mechanical action moves the hydraulic fluid between the internal elements of the unit and then flows through the outlet of the unit to the hydraulic system.

Where are hydraulic pumps used

Depending on the type, modification and conditions of use, hydraulic pumps are used in many areas, such as:

  • special equipment;
  • mechanical engineering;

ГHydraulic pumps operating on the principle of liquid displacement are called displacement pumps. The design of such a unit provides for special insulated chambers through which liquid moves from the suction zone to the discharge zone. Such devices are adapted to high pressure in the system, but are sensitive to liquids with various impurities.

Types of hydraulic pumps:

The following types of hydraulic pumps are installed on special equipment and industrial equipment, differing in working elements:

  1. Radial piston pumps are installed in hydraulic systems with pressure over 40 MPa. They can work under pressure up to 100 MPa. The disadvantages are: pressure pulsation in the system, greater weight of the device compared to axial piston pumps, as well as low speed - the speed usually does not exceed 2000 rpm. For pumps with a liquid supply of 2-3 cm3 / rev, this parameter can reach 3000 rpm.
  2. Gear pumps are a type of rotary hydraulic pumps, the working elements of which are 2 gears rotating and displacing liquid. They are used in hydraulic systems with pressures up to 20 MPa (mobile hydraulics, agricultural equipment, lubrication systems, road construction equipment). The advantages of these pumps are relatively simple design, compact dimensions and low weight. The disadvantage is low efficiency (up to 85%), operating pressure and short service life.
  3. Axial piston pumps are the most common hydraulic pumps among other types, characterized by excellent power density, efficiency, speed (up to 4000, and in some models up to 20,000 rpm). Some types can operate at pressures up to 70 MPa (700 bar). Disadvantages are high pressure pulsation and equipment cost.
