Common Rail (Fuel Rail)
In this type of fuel system, a regulator maintains the pressure in the rail at the same level (approximately 200 Bar or higher), and fuel is supplied to the fuel injectors through high-pressure fuel pipes.
Among the features of such a system, it is worth noting high injection pressure, electronic control. This system is also the most modern, has the best environmental performance and is distinguished by the most accurate fuel dosing.
Unit Injector System (Pump-injectors)
This type is distinguished by its compact design, where the pump and injector are combined into one unit. Each individual cylinder has its own pump-injector, and high injection pressure is maintained.
Inline fuel injection pump (high-pressure linear fuel pumps)
Among the features of this system, it is worth noting the complexity of the design, large size and weight, compared to the previous ones. Each cylinder has its own plunger. Control can be both mechanical and electronic. PNVT is used mainly on older models
Distributor type Fuel Injection Pumps
This system has both advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages, it is worth noting compactness and low price. They are also easy to install on the engine and quiet in operation.
Cons: Given that it only has one plunger inside (rarely 2), it is very difficult to achieve high pressure. These pumps are difficult and expensive to repair, and are prone to damage from dirty fuel and water.
