Komatsu HPD71 — axial piston hydraulic pump

The Komatsu HPD71 hydraulic pump is a variable displacement duplex axial piston pump developed in-house by Komatsu, belonging to the HPD series. Structurally it consists of two independent pumps in a single housing on a common shaft, with one shared inlet port and two outlet ports. The cylinder block contains 10 pistons distributed between two discharge systems via shaped ports in the valve plate. During working operations both sections are combined into a single circuit through a control valve, providing maximum flow; when the machine is travelling the sections operate independently. The pump is the main hydraulic pump for Komatsu medium-class excavators.
