The Sauer-Danfoss PV90R250 PV90L250 is the largest displacement size in the closed-circuit Series 90. Unlike an open circuit, the oil circulates directly between the pump and the motor — reversal occurs instantly, without switching or pressure losses. PV90R250 and PV90L250 are mirror-image versions — with right-hand and left-hand shaft rotation respectively. 250 cm³ of displacement is not about speed — it is about torque: that is why this size is chosen where a crane boom with a multi-ton load must be slewed, a winch rope must be pulled, or a Liebherr crawler crane must be set in motion. On marine deck cranes and dredges, the pump drives the slewing, hoisting and cutter rotor mechanisms — in conditions where reliability is paramount. In top-class agricultural machinery by New Holland and John Deere it provides the hydrostatic drive for the undercarriage; in Merlo telescopic handlers — the transmission; and in transit mixers — the continuous drum rotation throughout the entire route.
